Herkimer Diamond Quartz Crystals come from a small area of Central Upstate NY, primarily from Herkimer County and the Middleville & Herkimer, Little Falls area, also St. Johnsville & Fonda. This is the 3rd hardest rock in the world.
These are extremely rare in any quantity, as most herkimer diamond quartz crystal over 10mm tend to have inclusions, carbon, internal explosions from gas during formation, etc. Some are extremely rare Skeletal Crystals - interrupted growth, many of these are Smoky also. Water Clear herkimer diamond crystals in this size start running in the the 1000s of dollars.
